Spray Irrigation

Beneficial Reuse of Treated Wastewater

Permits issued to a Public Utility, Municipality or Industry to construct and operate a wastewater treatment and spray irrigation system. Spray Irrigation is defined as the controlled application of treated wastewater to a vegetated soil surface. Wastewater spray irrigation systems may be utilized on agricultural land, forest lands and other designated areas. The applicant must develop and submit for the Department’s review and approval, an operating protocol designed to ensure the high-level disinfection criteria is met before the wastewater is released to the storage system or to the wastewater reuse system.
