The Shoreline and Waterway Management Section regulates coastal construction along with dune and beach protection and conservation practices. The primary purpose of the regulations is to enhance, protect, and preserve public and private beaches of the State through a permit and letter of approval process. The Section regulates the beach area from Pickering Beach along the Delaware Bay south to Fenwick Island along the Atlantic Ocean. In certain areas, this includes commerical structures/properties. See the link included on this page for maps showing areas designated by coastal building lines. https://dnrec.alpha.delaware.gov/watershed-stewardship/beaches/coastal-construction/
