Meat, Poultry, and Egg Inspection License



For Producers, Preparers, Transporters, Sellers, and Wholesalers

The Delaware Department of Agriculture grants a license to operate an official establishment or others engaged (a) in the business of slaughtering any livestock or poultry, or preparing, freezing, packaging or labeling, buying or selling (as brokers, wholesalers or otherwise), transporting, or storing any livestock products or poultry products for use as human food; or (b) in the business as renders or in the business of buying, selling or transporting any dead, dying, disabled or diseased livestock or poultry or parts of the carcass of any such animals (including poultry) that died otherwise than by slaughter. The Delaware Department of Agriculture Food Products Inspection assures that domestic meat and poultry products distributed to consumers are safe, wholesome, unadulterated, and honestly and informatively labeled. The Section also enforces Chapter 35 of the Delaware Code, Delaware Egg Law (retail store inspection).

Term

The license for Meat and Poultry Inspection shall be for the fiscal year ending June 30, and shall be renewed annually thereafter.

Fee

The annual fee for a permit is $25.00 and is payable to the Delaware Department of Agriculture.
